WORTH OF TIME
Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you have lost it, you can never get it back.
―Harvey MacKay
When I think about time, sometimes I am elated or sometimes I got depressed. Elated in a sense to appreciate it as time touches the fabric of reality. Depressed in that to try to understand time, is to wander in raw supposition. What is it about the worth of time that provokes such bipolar emotions? Is the reality of time somehow different from our common perceptions?
What is Time?
Well, the very first thing we need to do is to think a little bit about what we mean by time? Time is unique. Time is the ultimate thing that we cannot measure. It is same for everyone, but plays different roles in everyone’s life. Time is actually the greatest gift in one’s life. It is like money for us and we waste it foolishly and thoughtlessly in meaningless activities, but genius people make the use of time in its best possible way and invest it successfully because they know how valuable it is.
How much the Worth of Time Really Matters?
At some level, we all have an internal gauge for how much our time is worth. For instance, if someone offers to pay you $10 for one hour of work, you would immediately decline. Meanwhile, if someone offers to pay you more than $10 for one hour of work, you would accept immediately.
On the extreme ends of the range, it is easy to know if a task is worth your time. As you move toward the middle of the time value scale, howbeit, it becomes less clear if a particular task is worth your time or not. And this is the problem as most of life is lived in the gray zone of the time value scope.
Moreover, it is not wrong if we say that time is the thing that money can’t buy. Successful people always think that time is the chance that you can improve yourself, to do some productive and creative things. Even though you might not understand this statement now, but you will discover it when you’re a grown up. You will discover the worth of time. Just think about what you do each day. Are you investing the time well? In an hour, what can you do? Some people can do creative writing. Some people use this one hour to study while other does business. Few people play games, sleep or just wander here and there knowing that they are wasting their time.
Well, I hope that whoever read this, you can use your time at a better place. Time is like the water in the river, you can experience this every day depending on how you spend it.
In a nutshell, time in this world, among all other things in life is even more powerful and invaluable than money. If once precious time goes, then it goes permanently and never returns, because it always moves forward and not backwards. It is absolutely true if we say that, if a person does not understand the importance of time, then time also does not understand the importance of that person. If we destroy our time, time will destroy us very badly. It is true that, time never waits for anyone. It gives only one chance, if we lose it once, then it can never be returned.
